Championship Bicycle Trials

We are very excited about two new events for Rowlesburg! Two sanctioned bicycle races will call Rowlesburg home beginning this summer. The races are sponsored by the Appalachian Bicycle Racing Association of Morgantown. Dates. Appalachian Champion Race & WV Championship Race: August 14, 2010; Appalachian Time Trial Race: September 18, 2010.

The West Virginia State Championship Time Trial Event.  is open to racers from all states but only WV residents are eligable for State Champioship awards.

Course:

Leave your expensive Flux-Capacitors and fancy wheels at home cause it's WV and we got pot holes, but do not forget your climbing legs, and yes, they can have hair on them too. We don't judge! If you want to climb your legs off come join us over in West "by god" Virginia for some wicked hard yet truly fun grassroots road racn'!! This course starts and finishes along side the beautiful Cheat River in Rowlesburg, West Virginia. The twenty mile time trial course is an out and back stlye event. Races will start at the Rowlesburg City Park and head North on WV 72 for 10 miles and then will return to Rowlesburg on WV 72 south.


Preregister:

Preregister on Bikereg.com for only $20. Race day registration will be $30 and will open at 9:00AM. USAC Annual License required for all riders except Men's Cat-5 and Woman's Cat-4. Annual License can be purchased on the day of the race. One-day Licenses can be purchased at the event (by Cat-5 Men and Cat-4 Woman) for $10.
 
Race day registration opens at 9:00 AM, and closes at 11:30 AM.
 

How to get there:

  • From Morgantown, WV - Take WV 7 east to Kingwood, WV. Then take a right onto WV 72 South to Rowlesburg. Travel Time: 1 hour, 2 minutes.
  • From Pittsburgh, PA - Take I-79 south to Morgantown, West Virginia. Then turn onto I-68 east. Take I-68 to exit #4 at Sabraton. Then take WV 7 east to Kingwood, WV. Then take a right onto WV 72 South to Rowlesburg. Travel Time: 2 hour, 13 minutes.
  • From Washington, DC - Take I-68 to exit #23 at Bruceton Mills, WV. Turn left onto WV 26 south. Follow WV 26 south to Kingwood, WV. Take WV 7 east toward Terra Alta, WV. In two miles take a right onto WV 72 South to Rowlesburg. Travel Time: 3 hour, 30 minutes.

Rules:

Race runs rain or shine. All USAC rules apply. Riders must wear helmets at all times. Course is open to traffic; obey all traffic regulations. Centerline rule is strictly enforced. Littering on the course is prohibited

Sag support will be provided.
Events goes on rain, snow or shine!
No refunds starting two weeks before event date.

Awards:

Cash awards for Men's Cat 1/2/3, Women's Cat 1/2/3, Men's 40+ and Men's 50+.  Merchandise prizes for Men's Cat 5 and Tandem.  Junior will receive medals.  We will be going five deep in all class and eight deep in Men's Cat 1/2/3

Claiming Prizes:

Prizes will be distributed at Rowlesburg City Park within 1 hour of race results being posted. All prizes not claimed at the race are forfeit.

Results will be sent to USACycling.org.
